| What
does this land ahead look like? Where are we going?
In many ways we're a lot like Abraham, and we hear God say,
"I'll let you know when you get there." But as we
scan the horizon, a few goals mark the landscape.
A CHANGE OF SPACE
Over the next 3–5 years, we will transition from our
long-time home at Los Alisos Intermediate School to our dream
of a Community Center, open to the world 24/7. Our first step
will be into an intermediate space, which will enable us to
grow into the kind of church that would be able to fully utilize
and support that crazy dream of a community center.
AN EXPANDING STAFF
God's number one ministry tool has always been people. For
too long, Canyon Hills has been understaffed, and it's time
to throw off that limitation! So we are increasing our staff
by bringing on Jon Hall full-time to oversee communications,
leadership mentoring, and small groups. And we are shifting
around other staff roles and increasing certain key positions
in order to be optimally prepared to seize the moments that
lie ahead.
A GROWING NETWORK OF LIFEGROUPS LIFEgroups
are the heart and soul of Canyon Hills Church. In order to
realize our mission of bringing people who are far from God
into community with God and each other, we will need to grow
an additional 20 small groups, including regional groups and
groups for singles and single parents. This means that many
of you will be embarking on exciting adventures of your own!
A GREATER VARIETY OF SERVICE TIMES AND EXPERIENCES
For a few years we've desired to meet the needs of our community
more effectively by adding a greater variety of service times
and experiences. Saturday nights? Sunday nights? A "Generation
Y" service? Mid-week aScend experiences? The changes
of space and staff we that foresee will open up these possibilities.
God's incredible imagination is the only limit!
