| For
years we at Canyon Hills have talked about a sense of calling
that is a bit unique.
We've known that our passion to communicate a white-hot relationship
with God in a way that relates to people who are far from
God is a bit unique. And we've known that that is our mission:
To bring people who are far from God into authentic community
with God and each other in a way that fully forms Christ in
their lives and ours.
And we've known that our desire to serve our community in
ways that matter, with no strings attached, is a bit unique.
From building homes for impoverished families in Mexico to
providing backpacks full of school supplies for kids in local
shelters, we've wanted our hands to touch our world with God's
love.
Even our dream of someday building a community center to
serve the needs of the world around us reflects that sense
of calling. What if we were to build a “Community Center”
some day instead of just another “church building?”
A space that we could use 24/7 — for offices, mid-week
stuff, youth programs, weekend services — but much more
than that as well. A space that was wide open to the world
around us. Basketball courts, game room, coffee shop, after-school
programs … all integrated with a plan to draw people
toward God as we serve them.
