All
In the Family
"Family." Most would agree that these relationships are
the most important and most influential relationships in life. And
we're all a part of at least one. Whether it's the family we came
from or the families we're now (or some day might be) forming, these
are the people who define us and shape us and know us. And vice
versa.
In a changing world of single-parent families, blended families,
"exes," and non-custodial parents, what does it take to
learn from our past experiences and form healthy family systems?
Join us for a 4-part series called "All in the Family"
as we try to learn some of the core truths and practices of healthy,
God-honoring families.
May 8 | The Post-Walton Family
The times have changed. The days
of the so-called "traditional family" — mom, dad,
and 2.5 kids — have gone the way of 8-tracks and turntables.
But the core practices of healthy family systems remain the same.
We'll take a look at a few of those core practices, and evaluate
the families we came from, and the families we're in now.

May 15 | Turning Houses Into Homes
They'll let just about anybody get
married, have kids, rent an apartment or buy a house. But building
a home? That's different. In a world where everybody's broken —
everybody's "slightly irregular" — how do we create
God-honoring community with the people who are closest to you? We'll
take a look at a simple formula: Grace + Truth + Time.

May 22 | Loving Out Loud
Healthy family systems get very good
at communicating love to each other in a way that others in the
family feel loved. However, when it comes to loving people, we don't
all speak the same language. During this 3rd week, we'll look at
the life of the greatest lover who every lived, Jesus, and learn
from him the 5 languages of love: affirming words, quality time,
physical touch, thoughtful gifts, and acts of service.

May 29 | All In the Family
No matter how bad (or good) your
first (or second or …) experiences with "family"
have been, God gives us all yet one more chance to get it right.
He invites us into His family. A family with God himself as the
perfect Father, Christ as the oldest son, and you and I as brother
and sister. Young or old, single or married or divorced or widowed,
parent or child, God adopts us as his own and seeks to form an inclusive
community of loving persons who become agents of healing and transformation.
